This shot in March ’22 spawned our daily hikes along White Oak Bayou and a long documentation of the flora, fauna, and marshes between TC Jester and Houston Avenue, in The Heights. The year 2024 was a gap year when I was incapacitated fighting cancer. After months of therapy learning to walk again, 2025 was a revival year that had Bob the Dog and I battling back to resume daily hikes along this fascinating ecosystem within walking distance of our home.

Remnants from the flash flood yesterday afternoon in White Oak Bayou Channel, Woodland Heights shows water rose above top of the handrail on the Hike & Bike Trail.

White Oak Bayou Channel snaking towards downtown where it converges with Buffalo Bayou; new I-45/I-10 interchange just opened with no impact on the wildlife of the bayou but the skyline is slowly disappearing as Houston continues to evolve.
