About

Since Spring of 2022, Bob the Dog and I have been hiking every morning and most evenings along White Oak Bayou in The Heights near downtown Houston. Bob exercises his nose. I take photos. This website helps me keep track of images I like. The posted date is shown at bottom left corner of each photo. The date and time a photo was taken appears at the top left corner and is the wayfinder to its location in my archive.

What started as a pet project four years ago generated an archive of 20,000+ images. Some say the essence of “place” is not easy to capture. It can take years to focus in on it. For us, place is White Oak Bayou – the marshes, fauna, and flora on the wooded trails from TC Jester to Houston Avenue. We’re still trying to capture its essence.

Genre: Urban Nature. Style: Soft Realism. Is it art? Does anybody really know?

PS. Recently, Bob the Dog lost the ability to hike and I am on my own now. We grew old together, and now find ourselves in a race across the River Styx. As long as I am able, I shall endeavor to capture urban nature near our home in The Heights and return to guide Bob to the divine beyond.
